Heavenly Lake in China Namtso

Namtso, Tibetan for Heavenly Lake, is often described as being next to heaven because of its lofty altitude, stunning beauty, pure blue water, and spiritual associations.

It is the highest saltwater lake in the world. Snow-capped mountains and open grassland, dotted with yak herds and local nomads, surround the crystal clear water of Lake Nam, making it one of the most beautiful places in Tibet.

IMMERSE YOUSELF IN THE CLEAN AIR AND LISTEN TO BIRD SINGING

PLANING A TRIP TO NAMTSO, PLEASE REMEMBER:

  1. The sea level is 1100 meters higher than that of Lhasa, therefore please bring lots of water and don’t over-exert yourself.
  2. Weather here is changeable. Bring your thickest clothes just in case there may be rains or hail stones.
  3. Don’t forget to pack your sunscreen and sunglasses with you.
  4. Staying at Namucuo overnight is extremely worthwhile. The sunrise and sunset are breathtakingly beautiful. You would find the night sky filled with stars, and even see the nebula of the Milky Way.
